2010

  • October 23: Runway 03/21 has been sealed and is open for use.  See the Contact Us page for more detail.

  • September: CASA have updated CAAP 5.81-1(1) Flight Crew Licensing Flight Reviews.  It recommends that Flight Reviews (what we commonly refer to as Bi-ennial Flight Reviews) include a navigation component.  It's not mandatory, but we would recommend you be famliar with the document before calling to book your flight review.

  • From August 1, all operations at Sport Aviation Academy are to be conducted in accordance with the Sport Aviation Academy Operations Manual, available for viewing at the office. All staff, students and operators of aircraft at Sport Aviation Academy are required to read and acknowledge the terms set out in this document.
     
  • Wyalkatchem Aerodrome Development (2010)
    Latest News on the Federally funded development of the Wyalkatchem facility, home of Sport Aviation Academy.

    Work has resumed on the construction of the new runway 03/21 from September.  The current round of funding should see this new strip sealed, along with completion of the parking area and taxi way.

  • March: Congratulations to Bernie Wyndham who attained his Instructor rating.

  • Glenn and Alexis returned safely from Bundaberg on Saturday 27th March following modifications to the school J230.  This aircraft now has a 'dual' stick, making this aircraft more suitable to ab initio training.  It has also been fitted with a Sensenich 2-blade wood/glass propeller.

  • January: Congratulations to Alexis who attained a Senior Instructor rating.

2009

  • Another successful Human Factors course was held on Sunday 29th November, and we'll be running more of these in 2010. All RA Aus pilots must complete a Human Factors training course or sit an exam by August 2010: call us to discuss your options.

    Construction of the new 1000m strip (03/21) commenced in late November 2009.  Cross strips (12/30 and 06/24) are no longer available: call ahead for current status.
